Gradual Entry

Entering a Child Care Centre is an important step in your child’s life and we would like to make this transition a comfortable experience. We recommend gradual entry for every new registration. Once gradual entry has been successfully completed, you will feel much more secure in the fact that your child is happy and comfortable when you leave him/her with us.

We understand the gradual entry might not be convenient for working parents and are flexible in planning it together with you. The gradual entry will be one week in duration. We recommend that gradual entry consists of numerous short stays and eventually a brief drop off.

Parents’ calls made to children during program time are discouraged unless it is an emergency.

Please note that gradual entry is normally a 1 week process, so please allow the allotted time scheduling that is necessary. Children will not be started on a full day schedule in any circumstance. We want your child to be as happy and as comfortable as possible attending school!

Example of a gradual entry program:

Monday - 1 hour visit
Tuesday - 1 to 2.5 hours
Wednesday - 2.5 to 4 hours (includes lunch time)
Thursday - 4 to 6 hours (include lunch/nap)
Friday - regular schedule if child is comfortable

Adjustments may be made according to the child's comfort level settling into the classroom environment.
